RHODE ISLAND RED
One of the most well-known and popular chicken breeds is the Rhode Island Red. These truly American chickens provide excellent large brown egg layers and are one of our most popular day-old baby chick breeds.
They were developed in the early twentieth century in the state of Rhode Island as a dual-purpose breed, and they have consistently topped the rankings for brown egg layers. The Rhode Island Reds lay more and nicer eggs than any other heavy breed.
Day-old newborn Rhode Island Red chicks are a rusty red tint, whereas mature birds are a mahogany red color.
